DARIEN- On June 16th, State Rep. Terrie Wood (R-Darien and Rowayton) hosted an informational forum on the State Budget at the Darien Library.

The forum included a PowerPoint presentation of Connecticut’s state budget process and facts.

After the lecture, Rep. Terrie Wood along with Greenwich Rep. Livvy Floren answered questions from the 30 Darien residents in attendance. The questions ranged from Special Education funding and possible tax increases to state employee health benefits and transportation project funding.“It is incumbent on our legislators to keep the people they represent informed of what is going on in Hartford, especially during this very tough budget year,” said Wood a freshman legislator on the Appropriations Committee, which is the budget writing committee of the General Assembly.

Rep. Wood concluded, “I enjoy meeting and talking with residents in the district. Darien receives very little in terms of return on their state income taxes paid.”  For those who missed the budget presentation, click on the link below: http://repterriewood.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/06/wood-budget-6-16-092.pdf.
